~1963-1967 C2 Bolts~
All couplings from 1963-1967 used two rivets and two bolts to hold the coupling halves together, with one exception. The 1965 and 1966 steering couplings for telescoping steering columns were assembled with four rivets and no bolts. Installing them is a bear!
We have found bolts with both hex heads and round heads on all different year cars. We are not yet clear on which were used where. We have not seen a mix of round and hex head bolts on the same coupling, but given the realities of volume production, it would not be that surprising. Our working theory is that there was an optional construction allowed on the part drawing and some manufacturers chose one while some manufacturers chose the other.
Again, if the original parts for your car are available, match what was there.
